Following the EMBARRASSMENT in Miami over the weekend the Mets head to our nation's capital to face a surprisingly struggling (28-29) Nationals team that has lost 6 of their last 10 games and has been without young superstar Bryce Harper since his "run in" with the outfield wall in Dodger Stadium on May 14 and just learned that the latest "Strasburg incident" now involves a Grade 1 lat (rib cage) muscle strain. these 2 injuries will sideline the pair through this series and for the near future.
All that said the Mets having dropped 3 in a row to the lowly Marlins will undoubtedly head into the home of the reigning NL East champs with hope sof some improvement,
Meanwhile here in St. Louis the Cards continue to roll along with the best record in MLB at 38-19 having won 7 of their last 10. The Diamondbacks are in town for 3 more games before the Redbirds head to Cincinnati over the weekend for an early important division series with Dusty Baker's Reds who are keeping pace with St Louis and trail the Cards by only 2-1/2 games in the NL Central. The Redbirds then head to New York for a series with the Mets. LOLOLOL
