As the Mets head into Sunday's "effort" to avoid a sweep north of the border following another dismal game albeit against a fine performance from the Blue Jays Brandon Morrow, it's more bad news once again both here in the Gateway City and in Toronto.
Injuries continue to boggle the minds of Mets and Cards fans as the Mets send fill in rotation guy Miguel Batista to the DL following his Saturday 2 inning stint probably being replaced in the rotation by young Jeremy Hefner. While in Los Angeles against the Dodgers, it seems St. Louis' Lance Berkman has re injured his surgically repaired right knee only days after his activation from the same list following his calf issue. This latest injury along with the recent disabling of Allen Craig and the continued gimpiness of Carlos Beltran has forced the Redbirds to send for prized prospect Matt Adams to help fill out the lineup.
If Berkman is forced back to the DL, Cardinal Nation will likely see some combination of Matt Carpenter, Adams and possibly even Yadier Molina manning first base for near future.
With both the Mets and the Cards staring into the face of being swept in Toronto and Los Angeles respectively: (Gotta wonder what Albert is thinking about, other than his continued struggles)
