From Saturday's ridiculous broken bat 2 RBI bloop walk off
loss to the Nationals, here are:
From Luis Castillo's dropped pop fly, to DJ Carrasco's walk off balk the Mets have had their share of idiotic ninth inning blown save losses. Last night's wasn't quite that extreme but.... A broken bat bloop/flare off the bat of Nats third baseman Ryan Zimmerman drove in the tying and winning runs in the 9th at Nationals Park. The Nationals loaded the bases against newly anointed Mets "closer" Bobby Parnell who allowed a leadoff single then proceeded to"wild pitch" that runner into scoring position, then walked the next hitter. Ian Desmond sacrificed those 2 runners to 2nd and 3rd when Parnell issued an intentional walk to load the bases, bringing up Zimmerman who shortly thereafter began the celebratory hop with his teammates while Mets fans were left once again in shock and awe at the turn of events produced by the New Yorkers.
While the Mets were falling back to 3 games below .500 with 15 games remaining, the Cards managed to top the Cincinnati Reds at Busch and remain 8-1/2 games behind the Brewers who seemingly haven't lost to any team other than the Birds on the Bat over the past month.
I'll be making my annual Sunday pilgrimage to Busch today (with the wife...LOL) in hopes of seeing the Redbirds win while keeping an eye on the scoreboard hoping for a Brewers loss to Houston before the Brew Crew arrives here for a 3 game series beginning Monday.
