Mets 3 Stars ...The Left Fielders

From a night when the left fielders from both the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets each hit a pair of home runs in lopsided victories, here are:

Here in St. Louis I watched as Matt Holliday pounded a couple of homers providing the offense on the eve of Albert Pujols' reported return to the Cards line up and Jaime Garcia managed his way through 6 innings en route to the Redbirds 2nd win in this 3 game series with the despised Cincinnati Reds giving the Cards a 4 game lead over the Reds and a 1-1/2 game cushion over the surprising Pirates of Pittsburgh with 2 game edge on the Brewers in a tight NL Central race with a little less than half a season remaining.

Meanwhile, Mets beleaguered left fielder Jason Bay delivered a pair of homers as the Mets, with Mike Pelfrey meandering his way through 6 hardly dominant yet scoreless innings, were able to take their 2nd win in the 4 game series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers while moving to 2 games above .500 on the season.

Bringing my broom to Busch tonight and hoping to keep it ready for the Mets on Thursday,

AS ALWAYS.........
