Cards fall 18-4 to Streaking "Stros

The Post Ryan Ludwick era in Cardinal Nation is off to a less than stellar start as the Redbirds have dropped 2 straight to the Lance Berkman & Roy Oswalt less Houston Astros. That in itself should be cause for some concern among thItalice Busch faithful, but with the Astros outscoring the Cards by a combined 27 - 8 in the 2 games plus today's DL assignment of Jason Motte must undoubtedly have the manager Tony LaRussa and his #1 henchman, Dave Duncan wondering if the taking on of such reclamation projects as Jeff Suppan, Mike McDougal and now Jake Westbrook is a bit much for the pitching guru to handle at this point in the Cards recent collapse. As if these weren't enough the Redbirds signing of outcast lefty Nate Robertson to a minor deal will certainly put addition planning and diagnostic duties onto Duncan's "all You can fix" buffet plate.

As if the pitchong woes of the Birds bullpen aren't enough, starter Jaime Garcia looked unsteady at best in his stint last night at Busch.

The Cards send Chris Carpenter to the hill facing recently acquired JA Happ as they attempt to keep pace with the red hot Reds who again won on Wednesday behind Johnny Cueto and put a halt to the Astros 7 game winning streak.
