Believe in the Dickster..Sore Angel

The Mets once again sent a newly rebuilt RA Dickey to the mound in hopes that he could write yet another chapter in his unlikely 2010 career resurgence diary. On a night following a 14 - 6 thrashing of the Detroit Tigers the rain delayed opener of this 3 game set, Dickey fluttered his knuckleball past Detroit's line-up allowing just 4 hits, walking 2 and striking out 4 in 8 innings, winning his 6th game without a loss and lowering his ERA to 2.33. K-Rod worked a 1 hit 9th after RA failed in his lobbying of Jerry Manuel to "finish what I started".

Dickey was supported by Jose Reyes 3 for 4 night, including is 6th homer in the 5th off starter and loser Jeremy Bonderman . Reyes also tacked on his 6th triple of the year while also adding a single coming up a double short of hitting for the cycle. Ike Davis chipped in with 2 hits including a 2 run single in the 7th. Ducky Wright added an RBI double, scoring Reyes in the third following Jose's triple.

Angel Pagan was lifted for pinch batter Jesus Feliciano in the 7th due to what at the time was reported as "torso soreness". Subsequent information revealed that Pagan was suffering from back spasms and had his mid section iced before the game which apparently worsened during the game resulting in his removal and now his missing todays (Thursday) game and his status being classified as day to day.

Hopefully my conspiracy theorist scenario will not come to fruition as Carlos Beltran begins his minor league rehab stint. His imminent return would provide talk show fodder and fan arguments for the playing time afforded outfielders Jeff Francoeur and Pagan. A lengthy Pagan absence would dissipate such "bashing".

The Mets go for their 3rd sweep of the last 4 series tonight, sending yet another surprisingly effective starter thus far in Hisanori Takahashi (6-2,3.13) to the Citi mound to face " But for Incompetent Jim Joyce Perfect" Armando Galarraga (2-1, 3.32) .

Pagan will miss at least tonight's game per Manuel who will insert Feliciano into the 2nd spot in the order behind Reyes followed by Wright, Davis, Bay, Francoeur, Blanco, Tejada and Takahashi.

Chat will get underway at 7 ish EDT FYI .."Work"At the complex pool tonight will feature a big Fireworks display presented by the neighboring retirement center Here's to hoping that by showtime we'll have reason to celebrate!

Even with the "injury" to Pagan, the "Send An Angel to Anaheim" campaign continues ..Vote today for David "Ducky" Wright and Write In Angel..It's the Heavenly Wright Thing to Do...

Lets Go Mets!!
